The Sustainability Award celebrates one manufacturer that has made a considerable effort to reduce their impact on the environment, encourages sustainable practices and sees sustainability as a large part of its future.
The winner of the 2023 award was Ulster Carpets, due to their impressive commitment to reducing their carbon footprint.

Furlong Flooring - Stand A22/A36
We have redesigned products to use less raw materials, replaced non-renewable materials with more sustainable materials and are reducing and eliminating the use of hazardous chemicals and reducing energy consumption through improved methods and reclaiming waste heat from processes.
Alliance Flooring Distribution - Stand A34
We have an environmental policy and an Energy Saving policy in place. We aim to be Zero landfill by 2025.

Uzin & Wolff Tools - Stand B15
Our commitment to sustainability is evident when building and constructing new offices and factories such as our factory in Haaksbergen in The Netherlands. Here, the products are manufactured in a CO2-neutral environment, and we make as much use as possible of natural daylight in the workplace.
Interfloor Limited - Stand B22
We have increased the proportion of underlays manufactured from recycled products from 16% to over 65% since 2008 and were the first flooring manufacturer to launch FSC carpet gripper and low emission.
EGGER - B47
EGGER operates a closed loop cycle at all of its production sites. By adopting this method, the environment benefits through the efficient use of wood materials. The wood-based material manufacturer conserves.
Tover - Stand B6
Since 2010 we have been using solar power for our production plant: as a result, 80% of our production is made thanks to renewable energy. We are also currently packing our core products into recycled plastic pails.

As a doormat specialist, we use a lot of coir matting. Coir is extremely sustainable & a biodegradable by-product of coconut production. We use SEDEX approved suppliers with other ethical supply chain certifications such as SA8000, ISO 14001 and BSCI. This ensures our products are made ethically and sustainably.

Our cotton products use recycled yarns sourced from the global garment industry, a pioneering highly skilled team combine and process colour components in order to give the right colour, this eliminates the harsh.

UNILIN - Stand C29
To ensure that the innovation we develop within the company is sustainable, we have drawn up a Sustainable Innovation Framework. We are the world’s first company that can fully recycle HDF into new material. Its patented technology makes it possible to detach wood fibres from existing HDF and reuse them.
Ulster Carpets - C33
As part of our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint we have targeted five key areas to reduce our carbon emissions, energy, water consumption, waste and packaging. This has already resulted in 100% waste diversion, a 46% reduction in water and a move to 100% renewable electricity.
The Independent Flooring Group - C56
We have created and trademarked UP! as the brand name for our new range of flooring products which demonstrate UP!CYCLING in their manufacturing ethos and content. UP! products have a high content of recycled or sustainable materials which are upcycled into high quality products.

We use 100% natural materials, and produce all of our products in Scotland.
Greendale Carpets & Floorings - Stand C66
We send all of our room size discontinued/obsolete carpet to The Salvation Army to be used in their housing projects (rather than landfill) and all of our discontinued samples are sent to a local hospice to be resold to raise funds or used as doormats (formerly sent to landfill).

We are minimising waste by evaluating operations and ensuring they are as efficient as possible. Using a high proportion of natural sustainable materials to manufacture our carpets and recycling all internal carpet waste, into our “Ecofelt” underlay.
