The construction industry is facing a critical productivity gap and a growing labour shortage - and Fabrica AI is here to help solve both.
The robotics start-up is debuting its ground-breaking autonomous tile grouting robot at The Flooring Show 2025, offering a hands-free, high-precision alternative to one of the most labour-intensive tasks in flooring installation. With no need for BIM data or floorplans, this compact robot delivers up to a 5x productivity boost - all at the press of a single button.
Fabrica AI is pioneering a new era in construction robotics, tackling long-standing productivity issues and labour shortages with cutting-edge automation. The company’s flagship product - an autonomous tile grouting robot - will be on display at The Flooring Show 2025, giving UK contractors, distributors, and installers a first-hand look at the technology reshaping job sites in Singapore and Australia.
The robot is compact (under 60cm wide), lightweight (around 70kg), and fully autonomous. It can grout an entire apartment without requiring floorplans or pre-loaded BIM data. Using real-time LiDAR mapping, classical computer vision, and Robot Operating System (ROS2), the robot navigates obstacles like pipes and drain holes, detects tile joints with sub-millimetre accuracy, and ensures a high-quality, compressed grout fill. Setup takes less than 30 minutes and requires no technical training.
The result: site teams can boost productivity by up to 5x, reduce physical strain on workers, and ensure consistent grouting quality across all room types — including narrow corridors and irregular spaces.
Founded by Jakub Suchanek, Keefe Wayne Teo, and Ronald Luc, Fabrica AI was created to rethink how robotics are invented. The team has developed the Fabricator Platform, a design automation system that aims to make robotics development 100x faster through reinforcement learning. The grouting robot is the first in a planned ecosystem of automated tools that will collect real-world data to further refine the platform.
Unlike many robotics companies that follow a service-only model, Fabrica AI has already sold units directly to contractors, with regular construction workers operating the robots on live sites. The company is now seeking UK distribution partners interested in launching “grouting-as-a-service” or direct sales models.
Fabrica AI is offering exclusive live demos to Flooring Show attendees, with options to arrange a demo the day after the event. For those ready to explore a future of faster, safer, and smarter tiling, this is the robot to see.
